HAMPARAN is a small institute. Everything published here has a named person behind it, and the record below is meant to be checked rather than taken on trust.
I see myself as part academic, part detective, and part criminal investigator.
Academic training
Began as a research assistant in the Department of Agribusiness at Universitas Jember, where he published the first international journal article to come out of his study programme. Four years, ten research projects, and a co-founded private research outfit later, the habit that stuck was procedural: define the question, find the primary record, and let the data decide what the paper says.
A detour through industry
Seven months inside a sugarcane commodities venture in Jember — long enough to watch how business, family, and politics actually interlock in an Indonesian commodity chain, and to learn that the tidy version in the literature is not the version that operates.
Due diligence, daily
Since 2023, enhanced due diligence for an international financial intelligence team: more than 420 reports across 73 countries, and still writing them. This is not a former career mentioned for colour. It is the daily practice that decides which entity records HAMPARAN bothers to build, because it is the practice that shows where the existing ones fail.
